The UN Committee on economic, social and cultural rights which monitors implementation of the international Government on economic, social and cultural right released the report based on a review last Week of Canada’s compliance with its treaty obligation, The report said, “There seems to have been no measurable progress in alleviating poverty over the last decade, nor it in alleviating the seniority of poverty among a number of particularly vulnerable groups.” The committee also criticized Canada for its reliance on food banks operated by charitable organizations, for wide spread housing discrimination again people having low income and the government’s failure to mention that it has a problem of homelessness, But conservative Barbra Greane who heads the subcommittee on used statistics Canada’s low income cutoff, a formula she insists is not an accurate tool.
