CHANDIGARH: Militant Bhagel Singh Lt General of the Khalistan Commando Force (Panjwar) two more militants and four members of a family were among 16personskilled in stepped up violence in Punjab and Haryana.
Bhagel Singh was crushed to death by a speeding truck while he was trying to escape from police custody near Deriwal village of Majitha police district on Sunday night. Bhagel Singh a close confidant of KCF chief Param Singh Panjwara was arrested at Jamshedpur Bihar last month and had been brought here recently in connection with certain cases which were pending against him.
Bhagel Singh jumped out of the police vehicle when he was being taken in for the recovery of weapons and tried to escape. However he was crushed to death by a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction the police claimed Bhagel Singh was wanted in more than hundred killings and cases of extortions and Kidnappings migrated to Bihar following the deployment of the army in the state.
Militants ambushed a police Party escorting a militant identified as Gurjt Singh alias Phuman near Bhande village in Majtha Police district on Sunday night. In the ensuing encounter Gurjit Singh was killed in crossfire.
In another encounter one more unidentified militant was killed by security forces near Vadhar village in Faridkot district on Sunday night. One 303 cut rifle and some cartridges were recovered from the slain militant.
A woman accomplice of a militant from Punjab committed suicide by consuming cyanide at Biradadi Dhani village near Ratia town in Hisar district of Haryana on Sunday.
Militants shot dead wine contactor Radhe Shyam and his employees Hardev Singh and Sons including five militants were killed in Punjab and Haryana.
Monday night police said.
Of the 13 persons eight persons and four militants were killed in Punjab and one woman militant committed suicide in Haryana.
An unidentified woman militant consumed cyanide and died on being surrounded by policemen in village Birawadi Hani under Ratia police station in Hissar district of Haryana. The woman committed suicide on finding that she could not escape the police dragnet police said.
Militant Baghel Singh Press Secretary of Khalistan Commando force-Panjwar was crushed to death under a truck when he tied to escape near Gagar Bhana village in Amritsar district. The militant was being brought from Jamshedpur where he was arrested.
