AMRITSAR: Dr.Sohan Sigh who reportedly resigned recently from the Panthic Committee known with his name has advised the Akalis to participate in the fourth ‘coming elections openly to put an end to state repression to  stop fratricidal war ‘among the Sikhs and to achieve the goal of Khalistan by following the path shown by the Gurus.

In a statement purportedly signed by him ‘on the letter pad of the Panthic Committee here Tuesday he said that the boycott of the assembly elections in Punjab was not in the interest of the Sikhs. Ideology was ‘equally important along with armed war to carry on a struggle. The power of the people had brought a drastic change in the political structure of Russia. It was not fair to lose the opportunity to show the “ok shakti” (people’s power). By keeping the people away from the elections the militants would have no option but only armed struggle which would also encourage fratricidal war among them.

Alleging that Gurcharan Singh Tohra was insisting on boycotting the elections Dr Sohan Singh said the people should ask ‘him about violation of his own pledge taken at Takht Sri Kesh garh Sahib. By holding the post of the SGPC chief he had been ‘misleading the Sikhs. A militant outfit was trying to dominate the religious affairs of the Sikhs and the Sikh youth in order finish the Sikhs politically.

‘Stating that the election was no solution to the Sikh problem he said the Sikhs should rot loses an opportunity 10 show their strength. The Akali leaders should participate in the elections with full strength to put ‘need to state repression to stop fratricidal ‘war among Sikhs to isolate the misbehavior elements indulging in incidents of snatching and robbery and to achieve their goal of Khalistan.

Meanwhile an anonymous caller who telephoned to a news agency office here on behalf of Dr.Sohan Singh alleged that the report appeared in a section of the Press regarding the resignation of Dr.Sohan Singh ‘and. the subsequent statement regarding participation in the elections had been “planted” by some government agents to engineer dissensions among the militants and to weaken their determination to carry (on the struggle for the establishment of Khalistan.
