DHAKA (PTI): Ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has rejected an opposition proposal for a probe into the communal violence in Bangladesh in the wake of Babri Mosque demolition in India last month, opposition sources said Jan.18.
The proposal was endorsed by top leaders of both BNP and main Opposition Awami League in an effort to work out a common
Resolution on the Babri mosque issue which Parliament took up for general discussion on Sunday night the inconclusive discussion would resume Monday night.
Although acting Leader of the house and irrigation minister Maj Gen (Retd) MajidulHaq, BNP Chief Whip Mahbubul Alam Tara and Awami league’s Tofael Ahmed and opposition Chief Whip Mohd Nasim endorsed on Friday the proposal for investigation into the communal violence in Bangladesh, the BNP parliamentary party meeting on ‘Saturday morning rejected the understanding, the sources said.
