SANGRUR: Below average rain fall prospects do not seem to be causing any worry to Indian authorities about their wheat purchase program in Punjab. The Indian government has been assured of supplies from certain western governments, Farmers of Punjab are upset because they have to wait for days and even weeks to sell their produce, Several farmers guarding their wheat at Sangrur, Bhiwanigarh, Malerkotla, Longowal, Barnala, Tapa and other markets told a team of visiting journalists that the market authorities had been paying no attention to their plight. These farmers had to sit in unbearable heat to wait for the buyers to emerge.
