NEW DELHI: ’Victim I’ is a 35yr old resident of Kabootar Market, Welcome Colony, Scelampur. According to him, on December 11,1992, at around 11 a.m. a mob of Hindu rioters screaming “Maro, maro in Musalmano ko, Aaj kol nahin bachega..” (kill these Muslims. Nobody would be spared today) invaded his locality, But when the police came, he Says, instead of targeting the rioters they fired at him. “The bullet pierced my arm and entered the chest. I fell down.”

When consciousness returned, he discovered the mob had ran sacked the house, 10 tolas of gold andRs20,000 were found missing, “I” is just one of the cases listed in the *Victims’ Version,’ are port presented on Wednesday by the Voluntary Medical center(VMC), under the aegis of the AIDS Bhedbhay Virodhi Aandolan {ABVA), It was released by the veteran civil liberties activist Inder Mohan. The Voluntary Medical Genter which comprises, among others, a gynecologist and an orthopedic Surgeon, was operating in the Janata Maziloor Colony and other areas of Seelampur (East Delhi) during the December 1992 rots.

As evidence the ABVA cities 14 case histories which form the bulk of the report. Culled from 3,500 case histories  giving personal accounts, reports lodged with the police, postmortem reports and discharge papers  ‘Victims’ Version’ aims at exposing “‘sustained victimization of a particular community,” said Dr.Puneet Bedi addressing a Press briefing.
