KAPURTHALA: The dharna by members of the district bar association entered its 23rd day on March 5, keeping work in both the judicial and the civil courts paralyzed.
‘The association, in a resolution, appreciated the stand taken by Lok Sabha Congress Member Jagmit Singh Brar in “exposing the killing” of three lawyers.
The dharna was in protest against the killing of three advocates B.S.Mansahia of Bathinda, Jagminder Singh of Kapurthala, and Kulwant Singh Saini, his wife and a minor son in Ropar, allegedly by the police.
Meanwhile in Sangrur, more than 100 members of the Sangrur Bar Association, led by the association president, Ram Sarup, on Friday adopted a novel method to protest against the killing of justice and the unaccommodating attitude of the courts. They entered the court of the district and Sessions Judge and observed a two minute silence to mourn the killing of justice.
The judicial courts, Ram Sarup alleged, were deciding cases without hearing the respective parties in the absence of the lawyers.
“The lawyers also went to the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge, A.Basu, and that of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, J.R.Singla, and repeated their protest.
