NEW DELHI: Film star and Congress MP Sunil Dutt has said he will not withdraw his resignation from the Lok Sabha. In an interview to Eyewitness video magazine, he said:”1 will not withdraw myself because I genuinely feel wrong has been done and my party must really fee! about it, From my side, I wanted to show the resentment because thousands of people could have been saved if real action had been taken in time in Bombay.”
Dutt told eyewitness Sharmila Tagore “There was definitely two days delay in deciding whether the army should be utilized or not. I wish the Army should’ve been utilized immediately,” to quell the riots in the city early this month.
Elaborating on Congress. spokesman V.N.Gadgil’s comments on his resignation.
Dutt said My party spokesman said in his statement that I brought embarrassment to. the. party and I generally feel that this was not nice stalemate he gave.
On the contrary, I would like to” say that when Babri Masjid was demolished, I think there was a lot of embarrassment the party, When thousands of people have died in Bombay and if I’ve resigned I don’t think it is embarrassment to the party, This is more for awakening the party!”
