NEW DELHI(PTI): Leaders of major Indian political parties Jan.29 described the Russian president, Boris Yeltsin’s visit to India a singular success in cementing relations between the two countries.

The former external affairs minister and senior Janata Dal leader, L. K.Gujaral, also described Yeltsin’s visit to India as a ‘singular success.

Gujaral said Yeltsin’s commitment regarding Kashmir and India’s territorial integrity were in conformity of our geostrategic realities.

“Both India and Russia fully understand the compulsion and reality of past cold war era. Now both of us together not only will be able to restore our commercial relationship to their original height. At the same time, two enterprises for joint ventures both inside and outside Russia and distinct possibilities on critical plane,” he Said.

The CPI(M) general secretary, Harkishan Singh Snrjeet, said that the agreements re-endorsing the earlier position taken by the erstwhile Soviet Union in relation to friendship and cooperation with India were “very positive.”

The CPI national council secretary, M Farooqi, said that the success of Yeltsin’s visit was bound to strengthen the traditional relations between both the countries.
