SRINAGAR(PTI):Two Senior Border Security Force (BSF) officers and an Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, escaped attempt on their lives while five persons were killed in the valley of the nor them state of Jammu and Kashmir Jan.12.

 J&K Govt sources in Delhi said two senior BSF officers, Ashok Patel (G, Srinagar) and Netram Singh (IG, Operations), escaped an attack by militants when their vehicles were ambushed Tuesday morning while they were on their way from Srinagar to Amanita.

Their vehicles were ambushed at Bejbhara, 46 kms from stale capital Srinagar by the militants who threw hand grenades at them.

Militants made a murderous attack on Inspector General of Police, Kashmir range, A.K.Suri around 1430 hrs. (O900GMT) Tuesday at Batmaloo locality of Snnagar. They threw a grenade on the vehicle in which IGP was travelling. The grenade fell short of the target and exploded on the road damaging the vehicle. Militants struck in a big way in Doda district of Jammu region and took away cash amounting to over Rs.1.48 million being transferred from treasury to J&K bank in Bhaderwah town Monday, an

Official sources said three bodies were picked up from Bandhipur town of Baramulla district Tuesday and two unidentified bodies were found at Mohammadpura in Badgam district.
