AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University, recently suspended the sale of the controversial book titled “Gatha Adi Shree Guru Granth Sahib” written by Dr.Pyar Singh, the university Said.
The book has evoked criticism from Sikh scholars besides the SGPC which had demanded its ban by the university. The SGPC had also threatened action against the university as well as the writer as the book challenges the authenticity of the scripture of Guru Granth Sahib.
The chief Khalsa Diwan meanwhile cautioned the university, which takes its name from the great Guru Nanak Dev, against embroiling itself in disseminating controversies.
The honorary sewadar Dilbar Singh, in a statement said that publication which hurt the religious feelings and landed to shake faith of the Sikhs and for that matter of other religious groups should be avoided.
He said the Chief Khalsa Diwan would give its comments only after thoroughly Scrutinizing the book. Dilbir Singh called on H.S.Virk, dean of academic affairs, and conveyed to him the Concern of the Sikhs over the Publication of the book.
