Respected Khalsa Ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa!
Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
We extend our heartiest congratulations and greetings from the Sikh community of greater Los Angeles and Southern California about the proposed construction of Gurdwara Sahib — our long cherished dream. Recalling from 1969, a few dedicated Sikh families got together and managed to start the present facility in a single family residential dwelling in a very prosperous area (Hollywood). A timely decision was made by the Sewadars to purchase the adjoining property during 1976, Both properties constitute one big lot with approved Church Zoning.
Over the past 17 years, many religious and social activities were performed to welcome distinguished personalities, and some were honored with “SAROPAS”. After the operation “BLUE STAR” in June 1984, the Sikh community realized the utmost necessity of expanding the present facility as the nucleus of Sikh traditions, With the grace of Waheguru, a Conditional Use Permit has been issued by the City of Los Angeles on October 30th, 1986 for the proposed construction of Gurdwara Sahib.
Architectural plans and contract for design bid has been finalized with a highly reputed construction firm, Preliminary work is in progress and construction will start tentatively before Baisakhi 1987. The budget for construction and planning is estimated at $1.5 trillion (approx.) for 3 different phases, i.e., (I) Demolition and parking spaces (underground) (Il) Conceptual structures (ll) Final decor/furnishings
It is with great faith in the Sikh spirit and generosity that we have accumulated some donations exclusively in the Building Fund. Moreover, we have launched an intensive drive to raise funds. We reach to Guru Pyari Sadh Sangat and humbly request your profound and generous help in terms of cash, pledge of any kind, loan (refundable) and participation in terms of raffle draws and social/cultural activities.
NO SEWA IS SMALL”
Guru Fateh!
