ONE of the great evils or sins which must be condemned Strongly is flesh-eating, It is a pity that it is widely prevalent even in countries that may be called civilized in the Western sense along with other evils such as smoking Cigarettes, wine drinking and several forms of sexual vices, etc. This needs to be stamped out from the human society because it is very harmful for man’s soul as well as the body.

Flesh eating is contrary to the principle of justice and mercy and hence morally wrong. It is most harmful to man’s health, strength and longevity and higher psychic development, It is an unnatural food for man and not really adopted.to his body. Meat is tainted and incomplete or inferior food.

The first chief element of food i.e. protein is not only supplied by the Vegetable World in a greater quantity than flesh foods but is of a better quality than meat protein because it is purer, free from toxics like uric acid which is found in the tissues of animals. Again, as regards to fat, meat is far inferior to non-flesh diet which is also healthier. Vegetable fats are emulsified ‘once and hence they are easily digested and absorbed. ‘The third element of food viz carbohydrate is almost entirely missing in flesh foods. Therefore ‘meat is an incomplete food and far inferior to milk and vegetable diet.

The fourth element of food relates to salts which are much more found in Vegetables such as Spin- ach and potatoes than the flesh foods which are generally defective and unhealthy. These vegetable salts purify the blood and are useful in neutralizing the uric acid. Water found in vegetables is also of the purest kind and is not vitiated with disease germs or animal tissues.

Thus flesh is inferrior to the vegetables in all the elements or essential principals of food.
