NEW DELHI: Gujarat State Health Minister Vallabhbhal Patel. who was stabbed by an unidentified person at Haimitiana village, about 30 km from Pajkot city on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning.
Patel was walking to his car after addressing an election meeting at Hatmitiana when he was stabbed in the chest, his security man said.
Patel was admitted to the civil hospital.
Gujarat Governor R.K. Trivedi on Wednesday expressed shock and grief at the tragic demise of Vallabhbhal Patel a report from Gandhi nagar said.
In a condolence message, Trivedi said in the demise of Patel the state had lost an able administrator and statesman who always strove to strengthen the health and medical services in the state.
