NEW DELHE: Mahatma Gan dhi’s grandson Raj Mohan Gan dhi, 57, who recently joined the Opposition Janata Dal, takes on Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, in the Amethi constituency.

A writer with a journalistic background, Raj Mohan joined the opposition ranks to help clean the nation’s politics.

Renowned for his close association with the Moral Rearmament Movement, he has written biographies of Raja Gopalchani, the first Indian Governor General, also his

maternal grandfather, and Sardar Patel.

A freelance journalist, Raj Mohan was the editor of Himmat a now defunct periodical from Bombay. He has also worked has the resident editor of the Madras edition of daily Indian Express.

Raj Mohan Gandhi had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election from Jablpur in the 1980 general polls.
