NEW DELHI: Lal Krishna Advani, 62, the President of the Bhartiya Janta party and former Information and Broadcasting Minister during the 1977 Janaia tule, has been a member of the upper house of Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha, since 1970.
A law graduate, Advani has not contested for the lower house, Lok Sabha, seat till date.
A volunteer of the Rashtriya Swayam Seva (RSS), Advani was president of the Jan Sangh from 197377. Earlier, in 1967, he became the Chairman of the Delhi Metropolitan Council. For the last two years, he has been president of the BJP.
