SRINAGAR: Army was called out November 2 in the Anantnag township of South Kashmir after two people were killed and over 100 injured in police firing that followed renewed clashes between police and moss.
An official spokesman said cur few was imposed in the township after heavy stone pelting by miscreants, who also helped several petrol bombs on the police parties nineteen policemen, including one sub inspector and assistant sub inspector, were injured, reports PTL
The spokesman said militants fired on the police parties in parts of Srinagar. Police resorted to firing, resulting in the death of one person at Rajouri Kadal while another person, who was injured Wednesday at Kanikadal succum bed to injuries November 2.
Mobs also tried to set fire to the Habbakadal bridge but timely action by police prevented the mishap. Batmaloo area of the city was also rocked by an explosion November 2 one was injured, reports said.
As the city of Srinagar and Anantnag township were rocked by violence, other parts of the valley, including Badgam, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kupwara and Sopore, observed complete lockout for the third day.
