Genes India: A process of polarization of militants on the one hand and ‘moderate Sikh parties on the other are on Punjab. After changing affiliations and reshuffling of organizations over the years, the detainees inside the Jodhpur Jail are reported to be coming around to accept the leadership of the Panthic Committee and the Damdami ‘Taksal. There is every likelihood of two parallel All India Sikh Student Federations — merging under the leadership of Mr. Dhana Singh, with Mr. Gurjit Singh acting as provisional President.
This development is significant to because the Manjit Singh section inside the Jodhpur jail had lined up earlier with Baba Joginder Singh in his tussle with the Panthic Committee. The Baba is now moving towards Prof. Darshan Singh and has blessed move for the march to Delhi beginning on December 10 On the other hand, Mr. Sugit Singh Barnala, is initiating a uniting move with other Akali Dal: He has formed committee comprising of Mr. Kabal Singh, former SGPC. President, Mr. Guidarian Singh Gre former Advocate General and Mr. Buta Singh, former Chairman Punjab Marketing Board. Mr., Barnala seems to have lost all hope for the rehabilitation of his ministry. There are indications that Center might order a midterm poll in Punjab, sometimes in March next year, Mr. HN. Bahuguna, a Lok Dal leader, who met Rajiv Gandhi yesterday also reportedly suggested to the Prime Minister to hold elections to the Punjab Assembly. Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Devi Lal, made a similar suggestion sometime ago.
