WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, Reuter: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Khan Junejo said on Saturday he had given resident Reagan his word this Week that his country had no intention of developing nuclear weapons.

Junejo said in a television interview that Reagan had expressed concern about nuclear weapons when the two met at the United Nations this week. I mentioned to him, I said Pakistan has no intention or desire to go for nuclear weapons”, Junejo said,

When asked if that satisfied Reagan, Junejo said, “Well, as the elected representative of Pakistan, when he says that to a good friend of Pakistan, normally it should be taped cable news network interview.

Pakistan has consistently denied that it is developing nuclear weapons despite reports that it is seeking to obtain nuclear weapon parts in the United States and Europe.

Junejo dismissed a reported statement by a Pakistan nuclear expert, Abdul Qhadir Khan, earlier this year that his country already had a nuclear bomb.

Junejo said Pakistan could not permit international inspection of its nuclear facilities on its own, but would be the first to sign an agreement by all countries in the Region to allow such inspection.
