NEW YORK: Amnesty International celebrated its 25th anniversary here on Sunday. December 7th, 1986, remembering the forgotten prisoners. Mr. Jack Healey, Executive Director and former political prisoner. Veronica De Negri from Chile, mother of Rodrigo Rojas De Negri and I won a Beczkowska, former political prisoner from Poland addressed the gathering, They called upon the people to write letters to the concerned authorities with copies to the Amnesty International for the release of the innocent persons in various countries. Oppression was a. common denominator in almost every country and political dissent is not tolerated even in countries that profess democracy.
A candlelight march was also held, Dr. Naunihal Singh, Director Administration, W.S.O, participated in the celebrations as WSO Representative.
