SRINAGAR, (PTI) At least 20 people, including five policemen, were injured when two powerful bombs planted by pro Pakistan extremists exploded in the busy city center area here damaging a restaurant and a building housing a bank, Police said, on Oct. 18, a crude bomb exploded in a popular restaurant on the Residency Road.

Police said 15 people were injured, two of them seriously. Five people, including two women, were injured in another blast in the house of senior city police official in Batmaloo area. The house had been rented out to a bank and insurance company.

The bomb blast at the restaurant was very powerful and shattered the windowpanes of the nearby buildings including those in the Indian Express office, police said. Correspondent who was near the site said a crude bomb was placed near the Open coal oven. Minutes before it went off, about 20 tourists were having snacks at the restaurant and has a miraculous escape as they left in time.

It was the fourth bomb explosion in the last 36 hours in the city, On August 4 a bomb blast had occurred near the same restaurant.
