STOCKTON: In view of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Gurgaddi diyas on November 5, Sikhs all over will be celebrating the Oct. 29 Nov. 5, week as such. The Yuba City Council has issued a proclamation and Sutter County of California passed a resolution to this effect. Guru Gowind Singh, proclaimed on October 7, 1708, that in the future, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the book of the holy scriptures of the Sikh Religion, would be the leader of the Sikhs. The largest concentration of Sikhs, their families, and descendants in the USA is found in Sutter County. These immigrants have made significant and important contributions to the agricultural development of the entire Sacramento Valley, and continue to play an important role in the social, cultural, professional, business, and spiritual life of California the proclamation said.
