CHANDIGARH: In the week of September 19 to 25 seven freedom fighters and four constables were killed in three incidents according to reports.
Notable among the young men who laid down their lives was S. Gurtej Singh area commander of the Khalistan Commando Force. He was killed after a fierce battle in Faridkot September 25.
On September 20 three freedom fighters were gunned down while Swinder Singh was taken into custody police sources said.
The bodies of Sukhminder Singh, Hardip Singh, Rajit Singh and Harjinder Singh were found in village Sukhewal on the 22nd “dumped there by the police” a villager said,
The police version is that they were killed in interaction fighting and were of the Hardeep Deepa group of the KCF.
A Nirankari leader Kanwarjit ‘Singh was killed near Degran village of Bathinda.
- Balwinder Singh and S. Darshan Singh of the KLF were killed ‘on September 24 in Poonia village of Jalandhar.
Inspector Harbans Hal Mittal and sub inspector Krishan Kumar, who were kidnapped from village Rahuwala, were yet to be traced. The captors had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 million for their Release, official sources said.
