BOMBAY: The state controlled Doordarshan and All India Radio have deservedly acquired a bad reputation and the irony is that the nondependent media is taking the fight of credibility into the camp of the independent media, said N. Ram, associate editor of The Hindu, while speaking on “The Indian media | a critical perspective.”
Ram was speaking at a meeting organized by the Advertising Club here.
Paying only lip service to fairness the government controlled electronic media has developed in an “idiotic manner” Ram observed. Referring to the brief period when the Janata Government ruled from Delhi, Ram said even they showed no willingness to surrender the advantage of this captive broadcasting resources. The press still remains the only credible message organ to the wider section of the Indian population, rather than Doordarshan, he said.
