GLEN ROCK, N.J: Kirtan by children and ragi jathas marked the function held to commemorate the day on which the Guru Granth Sahib was declared as the Guru of the Sikhs by Guru Gobind Singh Ji the tenth Guru.
The ragi jatha of Bhai Attar Singh hazuri ragi of Darbar Sahib Amritsar rendered kirtan as did a number of children who had participated in the camp. They were led by Devinder Kaur.
The function was held in the old building which was overflowing with the congregation. The construction of a vast hall is in progress to accommodate the increasing number of devotes in the Gurdwara. It is likely to be completed by the Prakash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, according to Pritpal Singh Khalsa the secretary of the Gurdwara.
Three children, Ravinder Singh, Sonia Singh and Neelam Singh ‘were given certificates of appreciation and prizes for participating in the youth camp held recently. They were not present last week when most of the participants were given the prizes. Ranbir Singh Bhalla told the ‘congregation about the progress of the Sikh Credit Union and urged all the Sikh families to open acCounts with the credit union. Amarjit Singh Rana gave various statistics about the Guru Granth Sahib.
