CHICAGO: Balbir Singh son of late S. Ajit Singh was wedded to Taranjit Kaur daughter of S. Gajjan Singh and Bibi Simarjit Kaur, here on Saturday September 2, 1989 in accordance with Sikh rites. Most interesting feature of marriage was that the families of both bridegroom and bride had come all the way from Toronto (Canada) and Hong Kong respectively and the arrangements for the marriage ceremony were made by their relatives. The presence of a large number of friends and relatives and the flawless ceremonies gave the impression that they were locals celebrating this marriage.
The credit for these arrangements goes to Beant Singh Bains and S. Sukhmel Singh Atwal’s families. Another interesting aspect of the marriage was that there is no demonstration of dowry.
Later in the evening, a grand reception was given to the couple in a beautifully decorated hall. Here too a large number of friends and relatives turned up to bless the couple and joining them in making this evening an unforgettable occasion.
