SRINAGAR: The activists of various organizations who are fighting for an independent Kashmir have been active for the past few days in Kashmir valley.
They demonstrated pro Pakistan sentiments when the Kashmir valley observed a complete Bandh (general strike) on August 17 to observe the 1st anniversary of General Zia Ul Haq. A section of the youth raised helium filled balloons tagged with General Zia’s portrait at three places in the city. At other places, black flags symbolizing mouring were tied to the balloon.
The ancestral house of Mufti Bhasiruddin head Mufti of Kashmir in the interior of Kashmir was also damaged in a bomb blast. The mufti lives in another house nearby.
In another incident, scooter bore militants fired several gunshots in the Chota Bazaar area in the interior of the city which caused a scare.
