CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab Congress 1 Minister Piara Ram Dhanowali and his son were shot dead by an unspecified number of gunmen at Patali village in Hoshairpur district on August 11,. They entered his farmhouse and opened fire killing him and Sidarth Kumar, his son. The gunmen locked up a home guard jawan and a tube well operator before escaping.
