From News Dispaches LUCKNOW: A wnit petition was filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allabahad High Court on Friday by Maharshi Avadhesh, founder president of the Rashtiya Party, seeking a writ of mandamus (extraordinary writ commanding the performance of public duty imposed by law) to the Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi and the Home Minister Buta Singh.

The Maharshi who filed the petition in person before Justice Syed Shagir Ahmed and Justice Shri Nath Sahay has sought as many as 12 directions six against the Prime Minister and one against the Election Commission to not allow Sonia Gandhi, wife of Rajiv Gandhi contest elections to the Parliament unless she is cleared by intelligence and other agencies and

her bonafides established. The writ of mandamus against the Prime Minister has been sought to direct him to speak more responsibility and with dignity keeping  the honor of the national and the people whom he represents and of his office. It also sought to prevent him from making baseless allegations against the opposition not to behave like a partisan Prime Minister or the Prime Minister of the Congress (1) party, not to raise the bogey of communalism every now and then, making anti Hindu utterances, and not to have truck with the Muslim League, “a communal organization which was responsible for partition of the country.”

The court has also been requested to direct the Union Home Minister to check antecedents associations and involvement of foreigners before they are allowed to meet Rajiv Gandhi and his wife, Sonia Gandhi.

It has also been prayed that the Union Home Minister be directed to find out under what pressure foreign or otherwise and under what considerations R.K. Dhawan ace suspect in the Indira Gandhi murder conspiracy, as found by Justice Thakkar, has been taken back on promotion in the Cabinet Secretariat threatening security of the country, and not to post him in any section or department of the Government.
