By Our Staff Reporter CHANDIGARH: Harpal Singh, a member of the legislative Assembly (MLA) of Haryana state in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister said that Chandigarh police had failed to register a case against a constable of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) posted at Punjab Bhavan who allegedly tried to rape his maid servant.
Harpal Singh who lives in MLA. apartments, near where the PAP constable was posted, said that Constable Jagir Singh caught hold of the servant in the staircase of the apartment as she was returning home after doing the household duties at night at 9pm on July 16.
The maid, after pushing him ‘pack, ran into the flat and the constable followed her. He allegedly pushed her into a room and tried to bolt the door.
On hearing the noise, another servant working in the apartment Sishu Pal came to her rescue.
Later the matter was reported to the incharge of the post, who assured that he would take action against the erring constable,
Harpal Singh said that after waiting for two days, the girl’s father lodged a written complaint in this regard with the police station (North), sector 3 on July 18.
He demanded an inquiry into the care and strict action against the alleged accused.
When contacted on telephone,
the policemen at the police station rudely told newsmen that there was no such complaint with the police station.
Baldev Singh, the deputy superintendent of police of the area also said that no First Information Report had been filed.
