CHANDIGARH: The Akal Takhat Jathedar Bhai Darshan Sing has issued notices to leaders of the Akali Dal (Mann) to clear there positions regarding the admission of Manjit Singh Kailey, a former officer of the Indian Administrative Service who allegedly belongs to the Nirankari Group. Those who have been issued notices include Charanjit Singh Walia MP, Sucha Singh Chotepur and Taran Singh Sandhu. Reminding them of the Hukamnama issued in 1978 directing the boycott of Nirankaris, Bhai Darshan Singh demanded a written explanation. The notice was issued on a complaint filed by Ranjit Singh Rayal, president of the Chandigarh unit of the party. Rayal had protested against kailey being admitted into the party.
Gurtej Singh however clarified that Kailey had served his connections with the Nirankari group. in 1980.
Meanwhile United Akali Dal General Secretary Charanjit Singh Walia said his party did not recognize Bhai Darshan Singh as the Jathedar of the Akal Takhat. He alleged that the Jathedar was playing into the hands of the government and asked him not to meddle in politics.
