KAPURTHALA: Punjab police chief said that security was being provided to all the vendors and hawkers of the communal Hind Samachar group of newspapers. A few such people have been killed in recent weeks.

Ajit, who said they were being needlessly harassed by the police. Gill also claimed that police had succeeded “in destroying the hideouts of the militants in the Mand area” following a joint operation by police and para military forces. He claimed that the migration of Hindus from villages in Amritsar district had stopped following “stringent police action.”
