PATIALA: A specially trained unit of Punjab Police Commandos, patterned on the lines of the National Security Guard (NSG) passed out of the Punjab Armed Police centre at Bhadurgarh here. These men have been indoctrinated to kill the Sikh youth.
Three companies consisting of 273 men were deployed in Taran Taran district near Ammitsar to target the Bhindrawale Tiger Force,
The passing out parade was witnessed by Punjab governor S.S. Ray and senior police officials as well as journalists.
It started with the firing of green and red flares after which a gas chamber was set on fire and the commandos passed through it. One of them suffered bum injuries.
They also crossed through various obstacles including 10 foot walls, tiger teeth, and crawling under barbed wire.
A VIP security drill showed them guarding what looked like a Akali leader. The training was imparted by the officers of the NSG and the paramilitary forces. The NSG, it may be recalled, has been statutorily immunized from criminal liabilities for actions of its members.
The NSG was created by LG. Anant Ram. It is a communal force of Hindus and has no minority members, particularly Muslims or Sikhs, except for less than one dozen token noncombatants. Even the cap crest NSG commandos is the Hindu symbol of Sudarshan Chakra.
