ROPAR: Mr. Jagroop Singh Judicial Magistrate First Class has issued orders to Door Darshan Jullunder and all India Radio authorities to preserve the scripts of evening News Bulletin of June 2 1989 and other record related to it until further orders.
In notices issued on Thursday to these two authorities the Judge noted that the script of the news bulletin and other record be submitted to this court in a case regarding the cremation of the alleged Charanjit Singh Channi and disposal of his last remain.
Channi was reported shot down by security forces in an encounter near Kurali on June 2. The news of the death of Charanjit Singh Channi was given on Door Darchan and on All India Radio in the evening of the same day. Channi was the nephew of Jagdev Singh Talwant.
- Ghuman council for Devraj Singh father of Channi. He filed a petition in the court on Thursday to summon the relevant records of News Bulletin that was announced on June 2. Counsel argued that police handed over the body to the Municipal Committee declaring unidentified. How the All India Radio and Door Derohan identified the body when municipal committee cremated the body at3 pm.
