OTTAWA: Mr. Paul Martin MLP. rose in the House of Commons today to commemorate the execution of the Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
Martin said that Guru Arjan Dev ji was a great religious leader. He commended the Guru Arjan Dev ji’s refusal to renounce the principles of his faith.
“Sikh Canadians adhere to the teachings that have, since the 16th century stressed the equality of man and women opposed to discrimination in all its forms and emphasized philanthropy, family and the maintenance of a moral and responsible like. The Canadians have made and continue to make a significant contribution to Canada.
Mr, Martin said he wished to convey to Sikh Canadians his “respect and admiration and to join with them on this special day of remembrance.”
