From News Dispaches PATIALA: The Punjab Government has returned historic paintings which were taken out from the Golden Temple complex during Operation Bluestar to the SGPC authorities.

Senior officials of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Archaeology and Museums here today handed over 99 oil paintings, 9 manuscripts and 14 miniatures and photographs to Principal Satbir Singh a senior member of the SGPC and Amolak Singh artist, Central Sikh Museum Amritsar.

‘These paintings miniatures and manuscripts were badly damaged during Operation Bluestar and were got retouched and restored to their original shape.

A majority of the paintings were by the late Sobha Singh the late Master Gurdit Singh and Kirpal Singh.

Among the manuscripts notable. are an ancient Gutka of the Gurbani of Guru Gobind Singh ancient Padam Puran Gita (in Gurmukhi script) Granth by Gulab Dass “Pothi” written by Than Singh Zoravansi, Mianpur, Ath Granth Gian Perbodhni by Sant Khuhiwala and Sanskrit Granth (in the Devnagni script).

Most of the photographs and belong to the postMaharaja Ran ingh era.

The SGPC authorities have impressing upon the Government hand over to it these paintings pen and manuscripts.

Some records of Bhai Gurdas and official records of the SGPC reportedly lying with the Government.

The library located in the common was almost reduced to ashes dur Operation Bluestar.

The paintings will be taken to on either Friday or Saturday.
