From News Dispaches AMRITSAR: The Akali Dal (L) President Surjit Singh Barnala today led hundreds of party workers to adharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here to focus attention on “State Terrorism and police excesses.” demand action against those guilty of the November 1984, riots protest against the reopening of the Indira Gandhi murder conspiracy case and seek bonus for wheat growers.

The dharna was a part of the party’s statewide programme to highlight the difficulties of the people and identify itself with them by initiating some political activity. It was also aimed at exposing the Government’s wrong policies. The first dharna was at San grur on May 26. The concluding dharna will be at Ludhiana on June 16.

Addressing the workers Suit Singh criticized the State government for pursing a negative anti-terrorist policy. The present police Approach was proving counterproductive and breeding more terrorists than what the security forces claim. “The bullet is no way to deal with the situation. The government must change its strategy,” he added.
