
By A Staff Reporter CHICAGO, ILL: S. Lakhwant Singh Komal, was unanimously elected the president of Sikh Religious Society of Chicago, Polatine at a meeting of the board of trustees recently.
S.Harjap Singh Sangha was elected the Executive Secretary and S. Mohinderjit Singh Saini the Finance Secretary. All elections were unanimous.
Other members of the executive are S. Harbans Singh Sangha and S. Harjit Singh who is a past president. Bibi Balbir Kaur, S. Gursharanjit Singh, S. Surjit Singh Grewai and S. Raghbir Singh Boparai. The new members of the Board of trustees are Bibi Balbir Kaur, S. Harbans Singh, and S. Mohinderjit Singh Saini. They will have a six year term.
- Lakhwant Singh Komal is a teacher who is also a businessman. He was the General Secretary of the Sikh Council of North America from 19821983. He has a keen supporter of the World Sikh News.
The Sikh Religious Society of Chicago is the largest Gurdwara in the mid-west and has been leading the Sikhs of the area in contributing towards the struggle.
