By Our Correspondent AMRITSAR; Sikhs here have boycotted the persons responsible for organizing a function in the house of Salwinder Singh, President of the so called Ikta Forum across Yamuna Bank on 6th May to honour H.K.L. Bhagat with siropa.
In this function, Gurbachan Singh Sabherwal secretary Guru Nanak Society, Sher Singh and Gurbachan Singh members of Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Commit
tee praised the services of H.K. L. Bhagat during Noy ‘84 anti-Sikh volume in which thousands of Sikhs died. Bhagat was named as the main organizer of this violence and a siropa was presented by Iqbal Singh Telwala.
Avtar Singh Jit President and Shekedar Surjit Singh General Secretary have said that neither such functions was held ina Sikh Gurdwara nor any member of Akali Dal (T) was present in the function. This function was arranged ‘by the agents of Congress (I).
Even Gurbachan Singh secretary Guru Nanak society who is alleged to have conducted the function in May issued a statement with Gurbachan Singh Sabhawal saying that no siropa was presented by Guru Nanak Society and that Guru Nanak Society has no connection with the function. It is said that these people and the leaders of Both Akali Dals could not stand scoldings and curses of Sikh sangat.
Manjit Singh Calcutta Secretary Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee issued a statement stating that the people whose. conscience has died have played this crule joke with Sikh emotions. These people deserve social boycott he added.
Prof Darshan Singh has also given a call for a social bycott.
It is learnt that H.K.L. Bhagat has professed that he will be honored in bigger Sikh gatherings. Sikhs are composing this to the presentation of Siropa to Gen Dyer at Amritsar after Jathamawale Bagh Marsacare.
