LUDHIANA: Rattan Singh a local industrialist, has alleged that he was beaten by the police and kept in “illegal” confinement.

Rattan Singh told newsmen today that on the night of April 12 he ‘was going to his factory when he. saw four dead bodies lying on Gill Road near Amber Hotel. The four persons had been shot dead by unknown gunmen a few minutes earlier. One woman was also lying injured and he asked her if she wanted water.

He said the police had taken into custody the owner and a worker of the hotel.

Rattan Singh alleged that later, he along with a brother of the hotel ‘owner, was also taken to Police Division No. 2 where the Assistant Sub Inspector in charge of the Miller Ganj police post beat him up. He alleged that his left ear was damaged.

Rattan Singh has sought action against the police officer concerned.
