GLEN ROCK: A prize giving function for young Sikhs who won an essay competition was the highlight at the Vaisakhi celebrations at Sri Guru Singh Sabha here on April 23rd.

The young Sikhs who had distinguished themselves in the talent competitions proudly presented themselves to get their trophies from S. Kamikar Singh, the president of the Gurdwara Sahib. Dr. Satwant K. Dhamoon president Sikh Women’s International Organization announced the prize winners, Each prize winner was presented with a trophy and copy of the April 27 issue of the World Sikh News which had intensively covered the Talent Competition, which they proudly brandished around.

An anonymous member of the Sangat had donated money to give $10.00 to each award winning youngsters.

The award winners were so enthusiastic that they decided to return the prize money back for the building fund.

At this, Dr. Balbir Singh Brar, said he would give the equivalent money for the building fund, but the children still gave the money for the building fund.

  1. Kamikar Singh, the president of Sri Guru Singh Sabha told the World Sikh News that next year a bigger talent contest would be held to encourage the children.
