CHANDIGARH, India: Punjab Government’s decision to raise 24 crores additional revenue through increase in bus fares has generated wide opposition, nearly all the political parties opposed the decision and threatened to Launch an agitation if the increase in fares was not withdrawn. Parties that have opposed the decision include Akali Dal (Badal), Congress (I), C.P.L and CPM.

‘The decision to increase the bus fares was taken by the State Cabinet at its meeting held in Chandigarh.
