CHANDIGARH, India: Four car boure persons freed two freedom fighters from Kapurthala Central Jail after killing two armed guards on the gate on July 15th at Kapurthala, Those who escaped from the jail were identified as Dalwinder Singh who carried a reward of 50,000 rupees on his head and Jagjit Singh Gill According to police sources, the car bourn people also took away the rifles of the guards, The rescue team that had hired a car from Kapurthala town abandoned it at a distance of 5 km from Kapurthala on Sultanpur Lodhi Road. Four men escaped on two motor cycles. Dalwinder Singh was stated to be a hard core freedom fighters operating in the State. He was arrested a month ago, Unlike Nabha and Sangror jail, Kapurthala Central Jail is not a high security prison in Punjab. The terrorists came to the jail and shot guard Sukhdev Singh posted outside the jails main gate and other jail guard who was looking through a hole in the gate was also shot dead. The imprisoned freedom fighters were already waiting in the lobby of the jail to be picked up by their rescuers. The State government has ordered a high level enquiry into the incident and has suspended five top officials of the jail for negligence of their duties.
