Resolutions were passed at the gathering on the 8 June 1986 at the Assembly Rooms Market Place Derby to commemorate the Martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev and the Sikhs who gave their lives to defend the Akal Takhat,
(1) The Sikhs Nation pays its homage to the martyrs Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, MajorGeneral Shubheg Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh and the countless hundreds more who gave their lives in the defense of the sanctity of the Golden Temple, Amritsar on June 26 1984.
(2) The Sikh Nation totally holds the Indian Government (Congress I) as being responsible for the desecration of its religious shrines (including the Akal Takhat the most important shrine in Sikh Nation), as well as the cold blooded murder of thousands of innocent Sikh men, women and children,
(3) The Sikhs will endeavor by all peaceful means at their disposal to set up an independent Sikh Homeland where human rights, civil liberties and religious freedom would be upheld and granted to all, irrespective of caste, creed and colour.
(4) The Sikh Nation requests the assistance of all the people on the Indian Subcontinent to bring about justice, freedom and equality to the minorities and poor in all the States of India.
(5) The Sikh Nation in particular requests support from all of India’s minorities and the world for the establishment of an independent Sikh state.
(6) All Sikhs of United Kingdom deplore two more recent attacks on the Golden Temple by Indian security forces. We ask the so called Akali ministry led by Sujit Singh Bamnala to resign against this blatant desecration of the sacred sanctity of the Golden Temple, We remind S.S, Barnala and other Akalis still supporting central government that treachery to Panth would be severely death with.
(7) All Sikhs of UK applaud the efforts of Bimala Kaur Khalsa, widow of Sikh martyr, to lead the Sikh youth to liberate the Golden Temple from Indian army and security forces. We are united in our support to free our Sikh shrines and the Punjab from Indian armies and paramilitary forces.
(8) This congregation of the major Sikh organizations under the banner of Khalistan Council ask our Sikh leaders in Punjab to declare that the only goal of Sikhs is a sovereign state of the Sikhs Khalistan, The only realistic solution of Sikh Nations cultural, linguistic, historic and religious rights is the creations of sovereign state, Khalistan and Sikhs settled in the UK are pledged to support the struggle for Khalistan by all peaceful and legal means at their disposals.
(9) All Sikhs of the United Kingdom are united with all those Sikh leaders who are to protest at the recent army and police invasions of the Golden Temple. Today’s congregation welcome the decision of Mr. Aruminder Singh, Parkash Singh Bedal and their colleagues to resign from the Barnala Government, in protest of the Government decision to send the Police into Harminder
Sahib.
