CHANDIGARH, India: Noisy scenes were witnessed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Speaker Mr. Sunjit Singh Minhas was forcibly removed and manhandled by the Dissidents. Anti-Barnala and antigovernment slogans were raised. This is the first time in the history of Punjab Vidhan Sabha that the Speaker’s turban fell down and the proceedings of the assembly were adjourned five times in three hours.
It all started with the Speaker’s refusal to let the Dissidents speak ‘on a point of order. The Dissidents were expressing their anguish over the indifferent attitude of the Speaker. The Dissidents under Mr. Badal advanced towards to the chair, the security personnel tried to stop them but failed, Secretary of the Vidhan Sabha, Prem Singh Lalpura, could not achieve any success, Former minister, Mr, Sucha Singh Chottepur along with other Dissidents dragged the Speaker down and manhandled him,
Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Har bajan Singh Sandhu, Health Minister, Sukhdev Singh Dhillon and Co-operation Minister, Mr. Prem Singh Chandu Majra tried their best but in vain. The session was adjourned for sometime.
