CHANDIGARH: The opposition sponsored sumit Haryana Convention which was held at Jind last Sunday demanded the resignation of the Bhajan Lal Government by April 23rd for having failed to safeguard the interests of the State and abrogate section 7 and 9 of the Punjab Accord relating to the territorial and river waters. In case the Bhajan Lal Government did not resign, the convention demanded to dismiss the anti-national government, dissolve the assembly and announce the midterm poll, The convention gave a call for non-cooperation movement from May 23rd, in case the Bajan Lal Government continued in the office. The noncooperation movement will be in the form of not payment of revenue, collected taxes, charges for lining further courses, government and bank loans, house taxes and boycott of Chief Minister and Congress (I) related functions. Through a resolution moved by the former Chief Minister, Mr. Banarsi Das Gupta, the convention demanded implement nation of 1970, award regarding the transfer of Fazilka and Abohar in lieu of Chandigarh and in 1976 regarding the Ravi waters, Through another resolution, the convention demanded the withdrawal of the 1985 accord. The resolution said that the Prime Minister had no right to change the award given by the former Prime Minister, Mr. Indira Gandhi, in 1970, regarding Fazilka and Aboher to Haryana and the 1976 award, regarding the distribution of the Ravi Be as waters without taking the people of Haryana into confidence.
