Chandigarh: The Haryana, Chief Minister, Mr, Bhajan Lal has described as baseless motivated and mischievous a report published in a section of the Press that Harayana would get forty villages of Patialla District of Punjab in lieu Of Chandigarh. In a statement at Delhi, the Chief Minister said that the Mathew commission was not examining the issue of transfer of any Other Hindi speaking areas of Punjab to Harayana than those of Fazilka and Abohar, Mr. Bhajan Lal reiterated that the transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab and the Hindi speaking areas of Abohar and Fazikla to Haryana will take place simultaneously. The exact number of territories to be transferred was being determined by the Mathew Commission. Chief Minister said that the transfer of Chandigarh also could not take place unless the Center itself undertook to construct the SYL Canal by August 15, 1986 as envisaged in the accord. Mr. Bhajan Lal told PTI that Haryana has staked its claim over 105 villages and two major towns, Abohar and Fazilka, inlieu of Chandigarh, He said that Punjab accord should be implemented in it’s entirely and not in parts.
