CHANDIGARH: Twenty three people, including two area commanders of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and seven security personnel were killed while three bus passengers were kidnapped by militants Dec 12.

Security forces also arrested nine militants with a large quantity of arms and ammunition.

Six security personnel and the two area commanders of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), were killed in an over eight hour long encounter in Faridkot district on Wednesday.

A paramilitary patrol party spotted the two area commanders of the KLF, Bhai Chand Singh and Bhai Kuldip Singh, were spotted and killed by a paramilitary patrol party near Rashid Khurd village in Faridkot district on Wednesday.

In another incident a shopkeeper was shot dead in the Chamkaur Sahab police station area of Ropar district, police said.

Two employees of a liquor vend ‘were gunned down in Dharamkot village in Ferozepore district. They ‘were identified as Mohinder Singh and Gurdev Singh.

Two persons were killed in separate incidents in Ropar district Tuesday night.

In another incident, Bhagirath Singh fell to militants bullets in Phulowal village in Bhatinda district.

A bulletridden body was recovered by police from near Basti Danish Mandan in Jalandhar Wednesday night. Another body was recovered from a village near Ferozepore.

A report from Amritsar said militants kidnapped three bus passengers from a bus near Golwar village. The bus was on its way to Tarn Taran from Amritsar. The fate of the passengers is still not known, police said.

‘Satpal Kapur was gunned down in the Friends Nagar area of Amritsar City Wednesday night, police said.

Militants shot at and injured two paramilitary soldiers and a head constable in runaway attacks at three places in Ludhiana, Batala and Ferozepore districts Tuesday night.
