LONDON: The Congress president Rajiv Gandhi has said some of senior colleagues of V P Singh have expressed their intention to join his party.
“We have not yet decided”, but “the question is still open”, Rajiv Gandhi said in an interview with the BBC eastern service on Nov 13.
Gandhi denied that his party would not allow Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar to take independent decisions. As far as this government is concerned, he said,”
It is Chandra Shekhar’s reasonability to make his own decision:
He, however, said that on important issues such as Punjab, Kashmir, Assam, casteism and communalism, the new government will work in consultation with the Congress I.
The Chandra Shekhar government would last its full term of four years, Gandhi said, he, however, refuted the suggestion that by joining hands with his old political rivals like Chandra Shekhar and Devi Lal, he had compromised his principles.
