NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Thursday adjourned till November 30 the hearing on a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the government decision to implement the Mandal commission report.

A four judge bench comprising the chief justice, Ranganath Misra, Justice M H Kania, Justice K N Singh and Justice Kuldip Singh directed that the matter be listed on November 30 for directions on fixing next date of hearing.

Chief justice Misra said the case was being adjourned as one of the judges of the bench, Justice P B Sawant, was ill.

Justice Misra said that Justice Sawant, now undergoing treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital here for a heart ailment, is likely to resume duties after three weeks.
